Medina Chamber wins Leadership in Grassroots Advocacy Award
Columbus, OH – The Ohio Chamber of Commerce awarded the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce with the 2010 Leadership Grassroots Advocacy Award for its commitment to legislative advocacy and participation in countless grassroots efforts.
The award, given to one Ohio local chamber each year, recognizes a chamber for going above and beyond the call of duty to champion free enterprise, economic growth and an overall pro-business environment.
“Employers and employees need a strong voice in their community – an organization that will promote the interests of businesses small and large,” Chris Brock, Manager of Grassroots Advocacy for the Ohio Chamber said “Fortunately for Medina, the Greater Medina Chamber is the strongest local chamber in Ohio and has worked tirelessly to advocate for policies supporting job creation and economic growth.”
The Greater Medina Chamber, led by President Debra Lynn-Schmitz, has spent the last year ramping up its grassroots activities in order to better educate its members while getting them engaged in the policy making process.
For its dedication to the business community, the Greater Medina Chamber was also recognized by State Senator Bob Gibbs, Ohio House Minority Leader William Batchelder and State Representative David Hall. All three legislators presented the Chamber with commendations for receiving the Leadership in Grassroots Advocacy Award from the Ohio Chamber.
Founded in 1893, the Ohio Chamber of Commerce is Ohio’s largest statewide business advocacy group. The Chamber works to promote and protect the interests of its members – large and small – while building a more favorable business climate in Ohio.
