Has anyone noticed the political ad currently running on television placing the State of Ohio's job creation in the 48 position? A sad situation for this wonderful state we are living in and so proud of its heritage.  Well, that is no longer the case.  Granted this ad is based on past history, but good news, Ohio has worked its way up in the ranks to the 24th position. While our nation's current unemployment rate stands at 8.2 (based on May 2012 statistics), the statewide average has fallen to 7.3 percent with Medina County’s unemployment rate even better, dropping from 6.3 in March 2012 to 5.6 for April.

This year the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce has had the privilege of attending the following ribbon cuttings in its sincere effort to show our organization’s support and interest in the success of our city’s new and relocated businesses.  The Chamber’s famous gold ribbon cutting scissors, along with Debra Lynn-Schmitz, our president; Jaclyn Ringstmeier, vice-president; or a representative from the board has witnessed the opening of the doors for A Cupcake a Day, Sushi on a Roll, Don Basch Jewelers and Bella Girl Boutique, Dickey's Barbecue Pit, Lemonberry Frozen Yogurt, Idea Jewelry, Twenty Twenty Photography, Thyme 2, Bricks4Kidz, Sears Appliance & Hardware and The Boutique at Trillium Creek.  Solid proof there is positive business growth in our beautiful city.  Please remember, spending money locally supports our businesses and our member investors.  Before turning to the internet or traveling out of town to shop, consider shopping our local merchants first.  Your loyalty to other members will in turn drive their loyalty in return.

Just a gentle reminder to those Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce members, there is a great avenue on the Chamber’s website to advertise your company’s special announcements of upcoming deals.  It is called “Hot Deals.”  Check it out and consider using this opportunity.  Plus, it is totally free to all Chamber members.

The Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce is proud to be working on the behalf of its members.  The Chamber staff and board of directors are committed to you, our member, with reliable information, facts, and contacts to assist in the economic growth of your business and its continued success.

Respectfully submitted,

Valerie L. Rapp
