It’s with sadness, appreciation and optimism for the future of the Greater Medina Chamber of Commerce that I share this news: In line with a long standing plan to have the last chapter of her professional career in a familiar, warmer climate, your Chamber President, Debra Lynn-Schmitz, has advised us that she has accepted a position with the Siesta Key, Florida Chamber of Commerce. She will be leaving the Medina Chamber effective at the end of February, 2014.

As many of you know, the Sarasota, Florida area has been an important part of Debra’s life; and in fact she began her career with their Chamber and she has family and many friends in the area.  As Debra will tell you: “It isn’t easy to leave Medina, although it is a little easier when the wind chill has dropped to double digits below zero. Medina has been my home for most of life. It is a wonderful community positioned for new opportunities. The Chamber has been a part of this community for over 75 years and the honor I have had for over 25 years to serve such an outstanding group of leaders has been rewarding far beyond my expectations. It is because of the strong leadership and commitment from the community, the Greater Medina Chamber Board of Directors and all of the others that partner to make Medina such a success, that I know the next President of the Chamber will be successful.”

And speaking on behalf of the Board, we thank Debra for her 25+ years of service and commitment to the Chamber; and while over the coming weeks, we will have ample opportunity to see her, recognize her many achievements and publically give Debra thanks for her years of dedicated service—know too that your Board is already hard at work seeking the next executive to lead this fine organization. We will continue to effectively serve our members and your interests; as we have done over our rich 75 year history. I hope you can all join us at our February, 4th member meeting when we will have a special ceremony for Debra. Meantime, please join me in congratulating and thanking Debra.  Wishing you all much success.
